Hey there! I'm a buddy of Putt's, the main editor at Puttbeat. We have a bunch of things in common. I'm also a big fan of sports and keen on fostering meaningful religious conversations. Plus, I know a bunch of his friends and family too.
So, when Putt first asked me for help, I was pretty stoked. My day job is pretty boring (just helping people get around), so I was happy to have a chance to brush up on my knowledge of sports in Texas high schools.
Here, I mostly want to encourage readers to prepare now for the coming season. Though openers are mostly a month away, already we need to know who the key players will be and which teams are expective to be the most competitive.
I was delighted when Putt said we would begin this year to recognize “the best of the least”, those schools that may not have had as much attention as the big winners of recent years and, thus, have not received much public attention, if any. You will hear from me often in this area; Putt has made me in charge of keeping up with “the also rans,” as he sometimes calls the best of the least.
In this respect, I agree that San Augustin and Kenedy in 2AD1 football are teams to watch; and I would underline San Augustin ( for with Ganado nearby, Kenedy will have the more difficult challenge).
In advance also, let me tell you of my hope to cover the Valley teams more thoroughly than PB has been doing. Texas football needs the southern teams in the state to do better; and I am hoping they do, and soon.
In the meantime, dear reader, get yourself studied up! For the more you know, the greater will be your enjoyment of the competition.
At any time, if you know of other teams or other players or, for that matter, of any student or fan our readers would like to read about, please notify me: disciplesmajor@gmailcom, 561-635—6522
