Putin has called for a three-day truce, May 8-10, in his country's seemingly endless war with Ukraine.

We wonder--yes, we do--why he did not extend that truce to much further beyond Mothers' Day on May 11, to give his troops more at-home time with their moms and the moms of their children.

Maybe he simply did not want the troops to have more time for the wars at home; that way they would have welcomed more a return to their battle with the Ukrainians.

But I write out of nonsense, for I know nothing of a real war, one in which guns, tanks, bombs and the like are used to kill enemies. So, dear viewer, just accept my ignorance as a yearning in my heart for peace everywhere.

Yes, I'm a lover, a true lover of peace, that is. And to quote a famous president (FDR), "I hate war!"

Which is why I have no understanding whatsoever of how it is that US citizens (of any age) are continuing to be deported without due process. Is it really because their mothers are illegals (non-citizens)? If that is the case, Puttbeat proposes that we search the world and import all "legal" moms who are willing to bring their children to the USA. Simple arithmetic, tit for tat, tells me this might be one of the best ideas yet.

Another not-yet implemented law maybe should be passed in the US allowing all legal fathers to leave the country post haste, and with any children born to them out of wedlock. Again, it would be "tit for tat," or better, "tots for tits."

But back to today's news.

Hundreds of DOJ grants have been canceled. Yikes! There goes my lost hope for balancing my budget before I exit this life.

The really big news from last night in sports was the 138-83 trouncing of the Miami Heat by the Cleveland Cavaliers. It seems trite to say that Cleveland advanced; really, it was more like the Cavs skyrocketed into the second round of the NBA playoffs.
