Despite their Records, Canadian and Childress Battle to Stay in 3AD2 Title Race
A glance at their unimpressive 2024 record shows that neither the Childress Bobcats (5-4) nor the Canadian Wildcats (5-3) appear to be strong contenders statewide.
That could be very deceiving. Losses by both teams have been to very good opponents; and each has impressive victories, Canadian over Muleshoe, 74-67. and Childress over district foe Tulia, 21-7.
This Friday, Nov 1, Childress has an open date as Canadian endeavors to get by a very good Dimmit eleven ( 5-4 ) in district competition. Canadian and Childress meet on Nov. 8, in their 2024 final, in Childress.
The Canadian head coach is Andy Cavalier, in his second year, having been named to replace the legendary Chris Koetting, who retired in 2021. Bo Heim is in his third year as head football coach for Childress, having replaced Jason Sims, another coach to have had a long tenure at one school.
Clay Kendall is the quarterback for Canadian, David Rabe, for Childress.
