Over most of the past 20 years or so the Beavers have been the preseason favorites to win their football district; 2-24 is different. The Beavers have a new district opponent, the Shiner Comanches, who, in the UIL alignments made earlier this year, were dropped from 2AD2 to 2AD2 and to the same district (15) with the Beavers.
But the Beavers are not expected to lie down and be easily defeated by Shiner or anyone else; In its preseason 2AD2 rankings, Texas Magazine has Shiner at #3 ad Falls city at #7.
Head FB Coach Mark Kirchhoff returned to Falls City in 2020 after leaving the town and school in 2011 for a several-years-long stint in Iraan and an interim year in Harper.
Kirchhoff will have several veterans returning including the multi-talented junior quarterback, Braylon Johnon (photo). Hunter Morawietz will be a mainstay on both sides of the ball.
The Beavers open the 2024 season against Three Rivers. Their showdown with Shiner will be on the Comanche home field, October 18th. The two may well meet again in the playoffs.
