Less publicity would certainty help; but that will never happen. Too many among us enjoy the horror and the sickness, especially when the slaying of a famous person attracts our interest.
More importantly, we can change the way we debate our religion, AND WE CAN cease talking to one another about how well off we are not to be a resident in slaying territory.
To halt or at least slow-down these senseless slayings, we must change the way we think and talk about our religion, or whatever may be the source of the values which we claim we most believe in.
Which means: we must stop arguing about such things as "the Rapture" and/or how our value source is to be read and understood, literally or spiritually.
In other words, we must pay attention much more so than we are currently doing to living "the values" that underlie our thinking.
In Christianity this essentially means we must love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Or, as St, Augustine said, "love God, then do as you please."
True, we cannot save the world overnight, not a one of us can, nor can any group we know. But WE CAN live our value system the best we can AS INDIVIDUALS.
