When you say your prayers for struggling Texas high school teams, we ask here that you especially remember the Hemphill Hornets, who among their four defeats, have allowed three of the winners to score more than 60 points each.
Unfortunately, there’s not much hope for the Hornets in 2024. They’re in a tough district (#11 of 2AD1), which also includes Timpson, Shelbyville, San Augustine, Joaquin and Garrison. Three of these –Timpson, Shelbyville and San Augustine—have but two losses each, and Garrison has only one loss to date.
The Hornets finish the season against San Augustine, Nov. 1, then close out against Shelbyville, Nov. 8.
The Hornets may, however, have a “winning” shot this Friday, Oct. 4, as they host Merryville (3-1) in a non-district encounter.
So it is that our request for Hornet prayers is well-based. And if they do not manage a win, let us add a request that the Hornets improve significantly in 2025
