Heroes of the Written Word


Perhaps no other small town in Texas has had such distinguished historians as has Refugio in Hobert Huson and Monsignor William Oberste.




Huson was a prolific publisher, with his best-known work being: A History of Refugio County from Aboriginal Times to 1953. Huson was a candidate for governor of Texas in 1940.


Oberste also published frequently. A photo of him has yet to be made available to PB, but we offer here a shot of the covers to two of his books:
