Refugio's Master Artist

By Putt.

On these pages we have said a great deal about the fine athletes who've come out of Refugio but barely mentioned the guy who just may be better known than any of the others, Kermit Oliver.

Kermit was born in Refugio (1943) and following his graduation from RHS, he enrolled in Texas Southern U., where he refined his superb talents.

We have included below three of our favorite Oliver paintings, Worldwide, he is best known for the designs he has made for Hermes scarves (an example is the photo in the center)

Kermit was named Texas Artist of the Year in 2017. Despite his developing renown, he mostly kept his day job with the US Post Office in Waco, until his retirement from that work a few years ago.
