There were few surprises in the first week, but the size of Wall's 48-7 win over Mason was unexpected. Also, Ganado appears to be even better than expected; Columbus, weaker.
The Refugio Bobcats are obviously back in the hunt, with QB Ray Lewis leading the way. The Bobcats face perhaps their toughest opponent of the regular season when on Thursday evening they travel to Corpus Christi to confront the London Pirates, winners over Bishop in Week 1.
Of note: 5 of the 6 teams that played in 3A 2 District 8 all lost; Gateway Academy, the 6th district member. had the week off. District 12 of 3A2, normally very strong, also saw 5 of its teams lose; but Kountze won over Hemphill; and Trinity, the 7th district member, does not open the 2025 season until this week. Similarly, five of the seven teams in District 14 3AD2 lost; but a sixth member, Tidehaven walloped Palacios 72-0; and the 7th District 14 member, Wallis Brazos, easily defeated Hempstead, 54-6.
