Welcome, to Our Better Angels

Oh, how we need them! our better sides, our best selves forever alert to the needs of human beings.

But why have we taken so long to wake up to our great need of them? Why did we allow them to drift into the shadows where we could barely sense their presence, if we knew they were there at all?

We deceived ourselves. We thought we could do it all on our own by being stronger, by having greater wealth and greater power upon which to draw.

So, it was and is: We lost touch with our better selves and now, we are trapped in the dire consequences. We never get the whole truth and nothing but the truth. All we get is bits and pieces of it. Propaganda, that's all we get.

Perhaps worst or all; We are not even sure what a better angel is supposed to do? tell the truth? act responsibly? always care for the weak and downtrodden? Is that it? Is that all?

Let's get back to the basics. Here, I shall try as I invite the reader to do the same

First, a better angel sees the awesome value of life itself, that of the unborn, of the born, of the weak and of the strong. Each life is precious.

Secondly, a better angel persists, never giving up on doing good and trying to make better the lives of the innocent and the unfortunate.

Thirdly, the better angel does not just speak the truth, the better angel also lives the truth . . .he or she lives? like an angel.
