When "Smart" Is Not Enough

We must assume that Trump and his closest allies are intelligent people; otherwise, they could not possibly be where they are, charged with running the affairs of the greatest nation in history.

But, as is becoming increasingly obvious, smart is not enough; to govern successfully you must also be clever and innovative about what you propose and actually do. The Trumpians are showing their inexperience; it's that simple. They vacillate; they are glaringly inconsistent, even contradictory, proposing one thing one hour, then proposing the opposite the next.

On the other hand, the absence of innovation as well as the contradictions that seem to multiply every few minutes, all that is terribly confusing to the Democrats and other would-be opponents.

In other words, Trump opponents are as much in the dark as anyone.

Concerning what happens next, we can only guess; but one thing is clear: the American people love clarity and consistency. Thus, it stands to reason that they will be looking for such in the 2028 candidates for the presidency.

If we are accurate here, and we think we are, we can say good-bye to the possibility that Trump will seek a third term. Also, we can say "hello" to some new faces, new faces, that is, with brains that are searching mightily to make governing simple and on the mark.
