With Timpson’s fabulous Terry Bussey now at Texas A&M AND longtime Tiger head fb coach Kerry Therwhanger retired, it looks to me like Timpson will have difficulty getting out of its district, much less compete for a second consecutive title.
Ganado is our #1, mainly due to the expert leadership of senior Bryce Ullman.
The new season looks more promising for Hawley HC Mich Ables, who will be coaching his two sons, Keagan and Camden for the second year in a row. The Bearcats won in 2022 and could well return to the crown room in December.
Mason has one of the tougher 2AD1 schedules and by playoff time the Punchers are expected to be highly competitive and be more than ready for a successful playoff run.
Refugio lost its speedster wide-receiver, Eric “the flash”, but returns Jordan King at fullback along with other key returnees. So, look out! The Bobcats should take their district with ease and be well rested and healthy for the playoffs.
Lastly, at #5, is Centerville, a team I’ve been unsuccessfully touting for so long I’m almost ashamed. It’s almost as though I’ve been a curse on Coach Kyle Hardee and his teams. Nonetheless, I will say it again, “This could be THE year fo the Tigers of Centerville!” A huge asset to their offensive game. QB Riley Pinckley spearheads the Tiger attack.
