Resolved Not to Resolve
December 26, 2025.- Why should we ever make New Year's resolutions?? We know in advance that we will never be able to keep them. They're a waste of time, so let's do the obvious: make none but one: Resolve not to resolve means that any success we might enjoy comes as a great blessing; in 2026, we may even encounter a multitude of welcomed surprises, like a big raise in our salaries, along with public recognition of our outstanding personal qualities. But we do not resolve to make those surprises happen.
In 2026, we might even be surprised when we experience the greatest possible happiness: a genuinely intimate relationship with another human being.
Indeed, genuine intimacy is surely the greatest of human experiences, for at least one other person acknowledges our great worth.
So, it says here, let us be more open to the unexpected, meaning open to the happening that we thought might never come our way.
For example, I've never believed that I would someday be a famous writer. So it is that I am not disappointed by present reality.
Alas, and in retrospect. Even a non-resolution is destined to fail.

So, let us resolve not to resolve but to expect everything, even the greatest possible human experience.
Go, Gang, Go!
