Anahuac Panthers. A Sleeper to Many

The Panthers of Anahuac (3-1) have the markings of a sleeper, you know, one of those teams that seems to come out of nowhere to contend for the trophies.

Perhaps the most impressive of the Panthers' three wins was their defeat in Week 2 of a team widely regarded as a very good Woodville team, 29-20.

Rather strangely to some, junior quarterback Brady Barrier leads the Anahuac attack; but after starting for Anahuac as a freshman, Brady played last year for Rusk.  Panther fans are, however, extremely pleased that Brady and his dad returned to Anahuac and Brady is back playing for the Panthers.

The Panthers do have one loss, 51-24, by three points to Lutheran South Academy last week.   But the remaining games on their 2024 regular season schedule look favorable to them.

This week, the Panthers travel to meet arch-rival Kirbyville (also 3-1).  They do not confront current district favorite, Coldspring Oakhurst, until the two face one another to close out the season on November 8, in Anahuac.
