That depends, upon who has the power and what that person intends to do with it.
But overall, absolute power, as Lord Acton said (1857), does corrupt absolutely. And we are seeing the truth of that in current history as it unfolds. Donld Trump has the power to corrupt virtually everything he touches. And the 90 or so criminal charges that were originally made against him attest to Trumps ability to corrupt. That is what he does.
One would think that Trump would want to appear NOT to be wielding corruptive power, like lifting up causes that help people. But he clearly wants none of that. He wants to be known as the one who has the power to get whatever he wants.
Frankly, those with less power, like myself, have little recourse. We must accept the corruption as the "wy things are."
Also, to be quite honest: None of this makes me happy. In fact, I constantly exist on the brink of despair.
But honest people, mostly without sufficient power, must never give up. For it is they who enable the rest of us to continue to enjoy life.
So, let us affirm: Absolute Honesty purifies absolutely.
