Don't Be Surprised When You Are

Many things in life are predictable, like a Totality eclipse.  But many other things are not, like which teams will win the 2024 Texas High School Baseball title.

Oh, Yes, we have our baseball favorites and our own rankings, predicting as best we can who the title winners may eventually be, come early in June.

But it’s The surprises usually stun us.  And there is a better than good chance there will be several in the Texas high school ranks this year.

For two, the upbeat is fixated on the chances of  Brock in 3A and Refugio in 2A to pull off big upsets and possibly even claim their divisional title.

For one, both school are known to have a solid core of good athletes, of the kind that have multiple athletic abilities.

Brock, for example , is currently sports a 19-2  overall record  with only one loss in 3ADistrict 8 play.  Breckenridge is the other district prime contender.

Refugio may have it tougher, certainly to find a path to the title; but doing so is not impossible.  The Bobcats are currently 9-1 in district play, but they avenged their solitary loss to Port Aransas on the same day the were beaten by the Marlins.

For most of the season, Kenedy has been the top-ranked District 2A team, making the Top 5 for several weeks.  The Lions  remain the team to beat; but they must travel into Refugio on April 23rd in a game should go a long way to deciding playoff seedings.
