Heaven on Earth?

In all fairness, compared to other societal arenas, our sports activities are the fairest and least discriminatory.

Granted, some would like for things to go back to the way they were prior to 1954, when there were few Blacks and other minorities performing for our best known colleges or for our  “white” high schools.

These same people would likely also want to return to the good old days when “women knew their place,” which was in the home, cooking, cleaning house and taking care of any children who might also live there.

I hate (not really) to tell the people of this mindset what they don’t want to hear, “It ain’t gonna happen, folks!”   Equality in sports is for real and is here to stay, as is the new situation of the female gender in our world.

Equality is good.  And I personally cannot count the ways my life has improved since greater justice came to our land.  Plainly stated, there’s not a place I can willingly go to where I cannot associate with minorities and women of all inclinations.  I am living as close to Heaven as is possible in this world.   Thank you, Jesus.

Oops.  I did mean to offend the Nazarene, who understood justice and equality far better than I or anybody I know can.

So, my question of the day is:  How close to we want our life on earth to be as close to heavenlike as we can make it?

Strange question?  Not really.  For there are millions of people I can think of who simply are fed up with all the talk like mine here, about our aim of making our earthly existence more heavenly.

Perhaps the most discomforting aspect of my conversation here is that I also know too well “It ain’t gonna happen!”  People are, for the most part, way too selfish and way too protective protect to want to share what they have with anyone, much less with “coloreds” and liberated females.

But on second thought, I know:  “It’s not supposed to happen; for the ideal life is in heaven, not on earth.”

We’re always and forever “on our way,” we are now living.  Let’s get with it!
And again, I must declare, with the utmost graciousness, "Thank you, Jesus!"
