Is Archer City TX Famous Again?

'Good sports make for a better world"

Archer City, Tx was not made famous by its football team.  Rather, it became well known due to a 1971 movie, The Last Picture Show, based on a book by Archer City native Larry McMurtry.

But “the big show” in Archer City this week will be at the high school football team’s (4-1) home field, on Friday night, Oct. 11, when the locals entertain the Windthorst Trojans, who are also 4-1.

The winner will take the #1 spot in District 6 of 2AD2, and perhaps stay there, provided that is, both can defeat currently unbeaten Electra.

Oh, my goodness!  There is quite a show to be witnessed in or near Archer City.  If you can’t get there, we recommend reading a book, any book by Larry McMurtry.
