Could 2024 be the year that the Maypearl Panthers rise significantly up the ladder of 3aD1 football success?
It could well be. Under second year coach Marte Armine, the Panthers have gotten off to a 3-1 start, with their only loss being to usually tough Mart,34-36. Their wins have been over Fairfield, 42-34. over Cameron Yoe, 41-24, and over Riesel, 45-13.
Coach Armine should be well pleased, even with the narrow loss to 2AD2 Mart. And he should be looking forward to hosting Troy on Friday.
Prior to his hire for the Maypearl position, Armine coached several sports for Flower Mound, and was at other schools before that, including Dripping Springs, where he garnered a reputation for building strong defensive football teams.
The chief district 5 opponent for the Panthers in 2024 will likely be Groesbeck, which also has but a single loss. District opponent Grandview appears not to be as strong as usual.
