Christians pretty well understand Jesus directive to "love your neighbor as you love yourself." But many have immense difficulty loving members of their own family, spouse, children, in-laws, not to mention cousins, aunts, uncles, and so forth.
Which is sad, so very unfortunate. Failing to love and genuinely care about those nearest can lead to deceit and divorce, and in some cases, to lifelong alienation.
I firmly believe we need to do better at directing our attention, care and embracing love more intimately to members of our family, by physically showing that we care, by being hugely supportive of good efforts and by showing, day in and day out, that we sincerely care.
Too, we can extend our thoughts to the importance of loving our friends, of "being there" for them when they need us. Next to our family members, friends are our best sources for ourselves t0 receive those acts of love we so desperately want, and need.
So, let us love one another.
Oh, daughters of mine, how I love you, how I love you! (My wife and son are deceased).
