Newton Eagles on the Brink of Losing #1 Seed

"Good sports make for a better world"

For several years, the Eagles of Newton (3-3) have been among the elite in Division 3A-2.  But that distinction may be over for them in 2024.  Already, as they begin District play, the Eagles have lost to West Orane Stark, 0-30; Jefferson, 38-47; and De Ridder, 36-46.  Their three wins have been over Tatum. 32-30; Anderson-Shiro, 62-7; and New Waverly, 56-14.

Friday, October 11, the Eagles welcome to their lair possibly their toughest District opponent, the Woodville Eagles (5-1), whose only loss was but by one point to a very good Anahuac team.

To win, the Eagles of Newton will depend heavily upon how well they defend by the likes of lineman Devontre Hilliard (photo).
