The Run for the Southern Roses*

If you want to see fully the South Texas plains and perhaps a rose or two, attend Friday night’s game in Santa Rosa when the Warriors host the George West Longhorns for the lead in District 16 of 3AD2.

George West is 5-2 and Santa Rosa 5-1, with the Odem Owls also still in the race for the #1 district playoff spot. George West defeated the Owls 46-23. Santa Rosa faces the Owls on Nov. 8.; the only loss for the Warriors to date was to Taft last week, 28-20.

Senior rb Johnalbert Cisneros is a key rusher for the Longhorns, as is rb Jj Anaya for the Warriors.

If you do attend the game and are from further north, you may want to stay over, perhaps in Harlingen or Brownsville; both are less than a 30-minute drive from Santa Rosa.

*Please do not be too surprised if you do not see a single rose, going or coming.
