The Tough Road to Football Success

ree

Puttbeat wishes here to lift up a man who has chosen the harder path to success for his team. We refer to Esteban Rodriguez, who is currently in his second year as the head coach and athletic director of the Cotulla Cowboys.

Sometime last summer, or earlier, Rodriguez made a decision to choose the harder path to achieve success for his team. In setting up the 2024 schedule the opportunity arose for the Cowboys to host the perennially strong Refugio Bobcats for the opener. Rodriquez did not shy away; he seized what he thought was indeed an opportunity. Although the Cougars lost that game, 49-6, the decision to host it turned out to be a good one.

The Cowboys are 8-3 for the year and are currently celebrating their resounding bidistrict win over Santa Rosa, also defeated in regular season. Their other two defeats were to Poth and Dilley. Their other wins were over: Karnes City, Brackett, Pearsall, YMLA. Nixon-Smiley and Stockdale.

Van Vleck will be the Cotulla opponent in the AREA round, with site and times yet to be decided.
