Yoakum Hoping to Slow Soaring Columbus

The Columbus Cardinals have not reached such heights in a while, for through week 7 of 2024, they are undefeated (6-0).

But this week, the Yoakum Bulldogs (5-2) stand in the Cardinal way with but two losses: to Cuero, 49-61. and West Columbia, 21-46.

The Bulldog-Cardinal clash will take place in Columbus on Friday evening, October 18th. Its outcome will determine which leads District 12 of 3AD1, a position held for this one week by Yoakum and Hitchcock, both having already won a district game.  District 12 of 3AD1 is certainly one of the most competitive in the state, all-classes, all divisions.

The Cardinals have been relatively untested in their six wins, with their closest victory being over Bellville, 49-35, on Sept. 27th.

Columbus Head Coach Matt Schobel has recently added Jose Rangel to his staff, to assist in the stretch run through the playoffs.

Senior quarterback Adam Schobel directs the potent Cardinal offense.
